How to Rent Lifting Equipment for Your Project

Infrastructure

Working at a height with heavy equipment can be a dangerous task if you don't have the right equipment. Most construction lift equipment is expensive, and it's not always viable to buy them. A crane, for instance, in India may cost you somewhere from 20 lakhs to 70 lakhs.

A construction or even a mining project requires more than one crane. There are other infra equipment that are equally important for the project. This equipment includes a man lift, boom lift, scissor lift, and forklift. A man lift and boom lift is used to lift workers to a hard-to-reach area. At the same time, forklifts carry and move heavy materials. Buying all this equipment would cost a company millions and billions. So here comes the role of infra equipment rental companies that can help you save a considerable chunk of money.

Any investment, whether renting or buying equipment, should be decided logically. Construction projects are expensive, and any wrong decision can add to expenses. So here is a guide to help you rent industrial equipment wisely.

Understand the Type of Project

The infra equipment is designed to lift heavy material and workers on different landscapes. For instance, some aerial platforms are designed to work on rough terrain, while others are suitable for flat surfaces. Therefore, when planning to rent a lift or crane for your project, it is essential to consider the type of project. Is it a rough terrain construction project or an indoor project with a flat surface?

Manlift, for instance, is used to lift workers to perform jobs at elevated places. The high place can be a ceiling or a large building. But when choosing a manlift, it is essential to consider the wheels or manoeuvrability of the machine. Can the chosen manlift move to the required project site?

A project can be categorized into three types: landscaping, industrial, and infrastructural or civic. Landscape construction involves residential and small commercial buildings. Industrial construction involves hauling material with high-capacity rugged machines. Civic construction projects include the construction of roads and road pavers.

Duration of the Project

The next most important thing to consider is the duration of the project. Is it for a six-month-long project or a year long? You should know the project's duration to avail of the lifts on rent for that specific period. Understanding the project's duration can also help estimate the amount you may have to spend on renting equipment.

Book Well-Maintained Cranes

Have the machine inspected for efficiency before booking a crane or lift equipment. Check the insurance of the machine and other necessary documents to ensure the machine is in working condition. Each equipment of the machine should be well-maintained and in complete working condition.

Billing Policy

When renting lift equipment as the dealer/supplier of the billing policy. Some require you to make a partial payment at the time of pick-up, while others may ask you to make a half payment. For peace of mind and better-organized work, knowing the due amount and time is always better.

Machine Operators

When renting construction equipment such as vertical lift, man lifts, or scissor lifts, you may want to have an option of operators just in case you need operators. Ask the equipment supplier if they provide trained and qualified operators. A machine with no operator is nothing but junk on the project site. So, when renting a machine, ensure you have operators with you as well.

Protection Policies

Most aerial platform suppliers have their equipment protected under insurance. The insurance also protects you from unforeseen expenditures. For instance, some parts of the lift machine you rent have insurance, which means you don't have to pay if that part gets damaged. Asking the seller about the protection policies can keep you focused on work and less worried about the damages.

Delivery and Pickup Policies

You may want to know the delivery and pickup policy of the supplier when renting infra equipment. What are delivery and pick-up timelines? Are there any specific working days for the supplier? Answers to these questions can give you an idea of when you can start your project and when you can expect it to be completed.

Renting equipment for a project is a significant investment that needs to be evaluated on parameters such as project type, duration of the project, and more. Before renting equipment, make a list of questions that you want to ask the supplier. Having all the questions answered is always better than being sorry.
